Program Description

Discover the fascinating history of Mombasa, one of East Africa's oldest cities, whose origins date back to the 12th century. This excursion combines historical landmarks, local craftsmanship and the flavours of traditional Swahili cuisine.

Explore the charming Mombasa Old Town, where narrow streets, historic mosques and centuries-old buildings reflect the city's multicultural heritage. You will also have the opportunity to visit Fort Jesus, the impressive 16th-century fortress built by the Portuguese, before continuing to the Old Dhow Harbour, where traditional wooden boats still line the waterfront.

Enjoy time to browse local shops before visiting the Akamba Handicraft Center, where skilled artisans create beautiful hand-carved wooden sculptures using traditional techniques. The tour also includes a stop at Mama Ngina Waterfront, home to a magnificent baobab tree and beautiful ocean views, where you can refresh yourself with fresh coconut water.

Your day concludes with a traditional Swahili lunch at Forodhani Restaurant, overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
