Nice trip. Too bad there were clouds on Pico Areeiro and nothing could be seen.

This was our second trip after the western circuit, again with a great guide Vojta. The trip to Pico do Arieiro was very nice, but it would have taken at least half an hour more time, we went through it quickly and we had about 2 minutes left to sit on the terrace with a drink and a beautiful view, so it`s such a small beer for ex! Since the weather changes very quickly here, one would have the chance to enjoy it in different conditions. It`s a shame that a trip along the ridge between the highest peaks was not on offer. It has to be booked many days in advance, which is a shame! The reservation system in Madeira is quite restrictive, I understand that they want to protect the landscape and at the same time make money from tourism, but you have to plan everything weeks in advance ☹️ The trip to Santana was a bit of a disappointment for me on the one hand, because I thought it would be something like an open-air museum. Unfortunately, the houses are beautiful, but inside they are souvenir shops, so you won`t see the original equipment there! However, across the road there were farmers markets where you can buy delicious and especially fresh fruit from local farmers. The lunch provided this time pleasantly surprised me, soup, main course and dessert, everything was very good. The wine was not much, but I had a beer and that was ok, the restaurant was cozy and the view from the terrace was beautiful. The gardens of the Blandy family were also very nice, the visit to the rum factory was interesting, the quality of the local rums less, but maybe I`m too picky 😉 The final stop on the island of Desertas was also very nice. I recommend doing the western and eastern circuits plus some levadas, so you can see how big the differences are in different parts of Madeira.
